As part of our commitment to maintaining a clean and attractive community, Wyndham City will investigate reports of untidy, unsightly, or overgrown grass on private properties. Our response to resolving the issue will vary depending on the circumstances.

Types of unsightly reports may include:

Rubbish
Long/overgrown grass
Scrap metal/hard waste/white goods/furniture
Trees/shrubs growing beyond the property boundary.

If grass or rubbish is visible from the street or neighbouring property, including the front or backyard, submit an Unsightly property request.

Unsightly Property Investigation Process:

An Officer will investigate the property to determine if it is unsightly under Wyndham's Community Amenity Local Law 2023.
If deemed unsightly, the property owner may receive a Property Inspection Card, advising that the property needs to be cleaned up.
If the issue is not addressed, a formal Notice to Comply with maintenance requirements may be issued.
If the property is not cleaned by the specified date, the owner may face a fine.

A property is only considered unsightly if overgrown grass or rubbish is visible from the street or a neighbouring property. If the issue requires climbing or looking over a fence to be seen, it cannot be classified as unsightly.
