DoT (VicRoads) manages the maintenance of traffic signals on arterial roads, and most traffic signals on local roads, on behalf of the relevant local Council.

Department of Transport and Planning (formerly VicRoads) manages the maintenance of traffic signals on arterial roads, and most traffic signals on local roads, on behalf of the relevant local Council. Even if Department of Transport and Planning is not responsible for the maintenance of the signals, staff at the Department of Transport and Planning Management Centre will log any fault reports and pass them on to the relevant signal maintenance contractor.
Traffic signal technicians will attend to urgent faults at any time of the day or night, please call 13 11 70 to report. Hazardous faults may include:
  • Power failuresLights flashing yellow
  • Swinging lanterns
  • Poles that have been hit by a vehicle
If you were unable to complete your request with Department of Transport and Planning, please submit the request for traffic light fault or failure using the Traffic safety issue form.

If you were unable to complete your request with Department of Transport and Planning, please submit a new request for traffic lights using the Traffic safety enquiry.
