The Wyndham City Public and Environmental Health team investigates complaints received from the community in relation to breaches of the Tobacco Act 1987.
Examples of complaints include:
- Tobacco or vape retailers displaying, advertising, promoting tobacco/vape products.
- Tobacco or vape retailers selling products to minors (under 18's).
- Persons smoking or vaping within indoor workplaces, outdoor dining areas, children's play areas including playgrounds, underage sporting events, skateparks, beaches, childcare/school/kindergarten, and underage dance events.
- No smoking signs within the outdoor dining area, children's play area including playgrounds, underage sporting event, skatepark, beach, childcare/school/kindergarten, underage dance event.
Tobacco laws
Under Victoria's Tobacco Act 1987 (the Tobacco Act), smoking and the use of e-cigarettes (vaping) is prohibited in all enclosed workplaces and certain public spaces where members of the public gather.
