Street signs encompass a variety of types, including stop signs, give way signs, no standing signs, street name signs, keep left signs, and no-through road signs. The procedure for fulfilling the request depends on the specific circumstances involved.

New traffic signs

If you wish to request a new traffic sign, please make sure your request is for a new or additional sign rather than an existing one that requires replacement due to being lost or damaged. Once the report is submitted, our Traffic Liaison Officer will inspect the site and arrange appropriate action.

Damaged, missing or stolen signs

To report a missing, stolen or damaged road sign or estate entry sign, please check if it is a local street by checking the Map of declared VicRoads.

There are situations where we will respond to requests on roads overseen by VicRoads due to an old agreement between Wyndham Council and VicRoads. The response from VicRoads or Wyndham City varies based on the type of road, as detailed below:

Other types of sign requests

Speed limit signs

Speed limits are in place to ensure the safety of all road users and can be influenced by factors like pedestrian activity and the vicinity of schools.

In Victoria, VicRoads oversees Speed Zoning guidelines, which serve as the basis for determining suitable speed limits across the state.

In the event a speed limit change is considered necessary by Council, Council is required to seek authorisation from VicRoads to make that change. Once VicRoads has authorised to change the speed limit, Council will erect the new speed limit signs.

Anyone wishing to request a change in the speed limit must raise a request for a new traffic sign. Wyndham will conduct a traffic engineering assessment and then submit a request to VicRoads for any changes to existing speed limit signs.
