Household Bin Collection Issues
Wyndham collects rubbish and recycling from your property on scheduled collection days.
To find out your next collection date, refer to our MyWyndham and use your address to search for upcoming collection dates.
Why was my bin missed?
There are a number of reasons why your bin may have been missed, including:
- Bins not out before 6am on the day of your collection
- Bin is too heavy
- Items are protruding from the top of the bin
- Contaminated bin
- Obstructions
Contaminated or overflowing bin
- Recycling and green waste bins containing non-recyclable or incorrect items will not be collected until the contaminated materials are removed.
- Bin lids should be fully closed; otherwise, the bin is overflowing.
If you encounter any of the above issues, please submit a Residential bin non-collection request below.
Not collected or part emptied bin
If a bin has been partially emptied or not collected, you can submit a request below for the truck to return and empty the bin.
Ensure you loosen the contents of the bin prior to the truck returning.
Spillage during collection
Spillage refers to any waste, such as garbage, recyclables, or green waste that falls from the contractor's truck during bin collection. It is the contractor's responsibility to clean up any spillage. To report an incident, please submit the Residential litter spillage request below.
Stickered bin
If your bin has been stickered, you can submit the request for Bin not collected. However, you will need to rectify the issue with the bin before the truck returns:
If | Then |
Bin too heavy - Do not fill to more than 70kg | Reduce weight in the bin |
Bin overfull or jammed | Remove excess rubbish so the lid can close |
Bin contaminated | Remove incorrect contents. Once the contaminants are removed, the bin is on the nature strip. Residents need to leave the bin out on the nature strip for the contractor to return, which will occur within 2 business days. |
Bin not accessible | Place bin: * On the nature strip * Near the kerb * Clear of trees and poles * Not in a court bowl * Clear of any vehicles |
When and how to put your bins out
Please place your bins out by 6am on the day of your collection.
- The bin should be one metre from the kerb with the wheels nearest your house. If it is also your recycling day, please make sure they are at least half a metre apart so the collection trucks can lift and empty them easily.
- Ensure you have followed the General Waste and Recycling bin guidelines for information on what can and can't go into the bins.
- Keep footpaths clear and ensure bins are clear of obstructions (e.g. bins should not be under tree canopy and need to be away from parked vehicles, walls or lamp posts).
- Each bin must not weigh over 70kg.
- Do not overfill bins or place foreign items in them. Lids need to be able to be closed.
- Once your bin is emptied please return bins to your property as soon as possible.
