Hair, beauty, tattooing and skin penetration industries

  • Businesses conducting beauty therapy, cosmetics applications, colonic irrigation, hairdressing, skin penetration or tattooing must comply with the Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008 and Public Health and Wellbeing Regulations 2019.
  • These premises are registered with Wyndham City to minimise clients' risk of contracting certain infectious diseases.
  • The regulations provide for a registration process and set out requirements relating to infectious diseases.
  • More information on the laws that regulate the hair, beauty, tattooing and skin penetration industries can be found here.

Council inspections

  • The Wyndham City Public and Environmental Health team conducts unannounced inspections of all beauty premises operating within the municipality. However, they cannot be everywhere all the time, so they rely on members of the public to report issues to the Council.
