Fire hydrants are located throughout the municipality to give firefighters quick access to water. The traditional hydrants are usually on the nature strip and easily identified by their silver cover and red top. In urban areas, many of these traditional fire hydrants have been replaced with ground plugs, which are flat and square with a black lid.

Damaged fire hydrants

Wyndham City is responsible for damaged fire hydrants. We will send one of our team members to investigate as long as they are not leaking or blocked by an Illegally parked vehicle.

Leaking fire hydrants

The maintenance of damaged fire hydrants is typically the responsibility of the local water authority, which is Greater Western Water. They are responsible for ensuring that fire hydrants are in good working condition and readily available for use in emergencies.
If you notice a leaking or gushing fire hydrant, please report it directly to Greater Western Water.
