The Building team is responsible for investigating alleged illegal or non-compliant building work. Their focus is on resolving issues by providing education and guidance to help the involved parties reach a satisfactory outcome.
Non - Compliance issues may include:
  • No Permit: Building works conducted without a building permit where one is required.
  • Non-compliance with permit conditions or plans: Building works are inconsistent with the permit and/or endorsed plans.
  • Illegal Use: Illegal use of a property such as a building used for a purpose other than what it was designed or approved for.
If you are affected by illegal or non-compliant building work, you can submit a 'Building Complaint' request.
You can also make an enquiry about whether a building permit has been issued by submitting a 'Building enquiry' request.
Please note: Unlike planning permits, building permits are not advertised and there is no requirement for notification to be sent to adjoining owners.
