Abandoned or Unregistered Vehicles

A vehicle will be considered abandoned if:
- It is unregistered. You can check if a vehicle is registered on the VicRoads website. This will show if the vehicle is unregistered or stolen.
- Registered but has not moved in more than 2 months.
Reports we cannot investigate
Please get in touch with the appropriate authority if the vehicle is:
- On freeways and declared arterial roads. Please report to Transport Vic
- On private property, including shopping centre car parks. Please report to the property owner
- Dumped in water. Please report to the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action
- Appears stolen? Please report to Victoria Police
Illegal parking
If the vehicle being reported is illegally parked, please proceed with an Illegal Parking request instead.
Raise a request
When submitting a request, provide as much detail as possible so we can assist you in processing your request. If possible, attach a photo of the issue you are reporting.
We'll investigate within ten business days. If a vehicle is unregistered or abandoned, we'll place a sticker on it with advice for the owner to move the vehicle within a set time.
